The Rainbow Room
The Rainbow Room is a valuable resource that assists abused and neglected children and benefits the whole specturm of families of all colors, heritages and races who are served by Chld Protective Services. The Rainbow Room is an in-house emergency resource center that distributes new items, such as clothing, diapers, personal products and formula to clients of CPS caseworkers free of any overhead or administrative costs. The Williamson County Child Welfare Board is responsible for the creation of the room and keeping the room stocked with appropriate items and items requestied by the caseworkers. One hundred percent of every dollar or items donated go directly to the children.
The most basic needs of a family in crisis are often unavailable, and caseworkers typically cannot provide the necessities from their personal resources. The Rainbow Room provides these needed items and is accessible to the caseworkers and investigators 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year. The emergency resources provided are instrumental in keeping families together through traumatic times and can be equally critical in developing a helping relationship between workers and client families.
